Primary Support Staff – KS1/KS2

About the Role

We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable Primary Support Staff to work in primary schools across the BD15 area of Bradford on a temporary, day-to-day basis.

The role will involve supporting pupils and teachers across Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2, helping to create a positive, engaging and safe learning environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain or develop experience working within a primary school setting.

Day-to-Day Work

Your typical day may include:

• Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of lessons and classroom activities.

• Working with individual pupils or small groups to support their learning.

• Helping pupils stay focused and engaged with their work.

• Providing additional support to pupils who may require extra assistance.

• Supporting children with their reading, writing, numeracy and other curriculum activities.

• Helping to prepare and organise classroom resources and learning materials.

• Assisting with classroom displays and general classroom organisation.

• Encouraging positive behaviour and helping maintain a calm learning environment.

• Supporting pupils during break times, lunchtimes and school activities.

• Working alongside teachers and other support staff to meet pupils’ individual needs.

• Building positive and professional relationships with pupils and staff.

• Providing pastoral support and encouragement to pupils where appropriate.

• Following school safeguarding, behaviour and health and safety procedures.

• Being flexible and adapting to the needs of the class and school on a day-to-day basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Support pupils’ learning and development across KS1 or KS2.

• Assist teachers with classroom activities and resources.

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support where required.

• Encourage positive behaviour and good learning habits.

• Help create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.

• Support pupils with additional needs where appropriate.

• Work effectively as part of the wider school team.

• Follow safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare of children at all times.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children is desirable.

• Experience within a primary school or educational setting is advantageous.

• A patient, caring and enthusiastic approach to working with children.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils.

• Reliable and flexible approach to day-to-day work.

• Enhanced DBS clearance is required or willing to obtain one.

• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
