Three years ago, I made the tough decision to leave the police force and pursue a new career that would better balance my work and personal life. Although I enjoyed my two work-from home-roles, I felt my police skills weren’t being fully utilised and I missed that type of work.
While searching for a new opportunity, I found the Candidate and Compliance Officer position at Best In Class, which seemed like the perfect fit to leverage my experience in investigation, character evaluation and risk assessment, even though I had never worked in compliance before and had to learn from scratch.
Initially, I was nervous about returning to an office environment and whether I’d fit in with the culture, but those worries proved unfounded. I quickly settled in thanks to plenty of training and an incredibly supportive team. Now, I’m thrilled to make a meaningful impact by carefully vetting our candidates to ensure we select the very best, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see them cleared for work and starting their chosen career paths.
Looking back, I wish I could have reassured myself that everything would fall into place and I’d find the perfect job.
