We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Key Stage 1 Teacher to join Best In Class. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality education to students in Years 1 and 2, fostering a positive learning environment, and inspiring a love for learning. The role involves creating engaging lesson plans, implementing effective teaching strategies, and assessing student progress to ensure each child reaches their full potential.

As a Key Stage 1 teacher, you play a vital role in laying the foundation for children’s education, helping them develop essential skills in literacy, numeracy, and social interaction.

Key Aspects of the Role:

  • Creating a Supportive Environment: Establishing a safe and nurturing classroom environment is crucial for young learners. They need to feel comfortable to explore, ask questions, and make mistakes.
  • Structured Learning Activities: Children at this age thrive on routine and structure. Plan engaging and age-appropriate activities that cater to different learning styles and abilities.
  • Literacy and Numeracy Development: Focus on developing fundamental literacy and numeracy skills through interactive lessons, storytelling, games, and hands-on activities.
  • Encouraging Creativity: Foster creativity and imagination through art, music, drama, and role-play activities. Encourage children to express themselves and think critically.
  • Positive Reinforcement: Use praise and positive reinforcement to motivate children and build their confidence. Celebrate their achievements, no matter how small.
  • Effective Communication: Maintain open communication with parents and guardians, keeping them informed about their child’s progress, challenges, and achievements.
  • Promoting Social Skills: Help children develop essential social skills such as sharing, taking turns, and resolving conflicts peacefully. Encourage collaboration and teamwork.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess children’s progress through informal observation, as well as more formal assessments. Provide constructive feedback that highlights strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated on the latest teaching methods, educational research, and curriculum changes. Continuous professional development is key to being an effective educator.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver dynamic and engaging lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students in Key Stage 1.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to participate.
  • Utilise a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Assess student progress through regular formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders to promote the overall well-being and academic success of students.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, achievement, and behaviour, and communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding their child’s progress.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
  • Proven experience teaching Key Stage 1 students, with a thorough understanding of the national curriculum and educational standards.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate young learners, fostering a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
