About the Role

We are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated Religious Education (RE) Teacher to work at a school in Chapeltown, Leeds, on a full-time, temporary basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a committed teacher who can deliver engaging RE lessons, encourage students to explore different religious beliefs and worldviews, and develop their understanding of religion, ethics, culture and diversity.

The successful candidate will create a supportive and inclusive learning environment, promote respect and tolerance, and inspire students to think critically about a range of religious and philosophical perspectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Religious Education lessons in line with the relevant curriculum.
  • Teach students about different religions, beliefs, ethical issues and worldviews.
  • Encourage respectful discussion, critical thinking and independent learning.
  • Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.
  • Assess and monitor students’ progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Maintain a positive classroom environment and manage behaviour effectively.
  • Promote mutual respect, inclusion and understanding of different cultures and beliefs.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support students’ academic progress and wellbeing.
  • Follow school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and child protection requirements.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualifications and experience appropriate to the role.
  • Strong subject knowledge of Religious Education, including different religions, beliefs and ethical perspectives.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and classroom management skills.
  • The ability to deliver engaging lessons that encourage discussion and independent thought.
  • A positive, flexible and professional approach to teaching.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • An enhanced DBS check is required, with appropriate safer recruitment checks completed before starting the role.
