A warm and welcoming primary school in the BD2 area of Bradford is seeking a compassionate and dedicated member of staff to join their alternative provision classroom from October Half-Term.
The classroom is a small, nurturing classroom setting designed to support children who are unable to access the mainstream curriculum. The children in this class have a range of additional needs, including Autism, complex learning needs and communication and language difficulties.
This is not a behavioural support role. The focus is on creating a calm, structured and supporting environment where every child can thrive and make meaningful progress.
You will be joining a close-knit team who are passionate about inclusion, emotional well-being and personalised learning. The classroom typically supports around eight children, each receiving 1:1 assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 or small-group support to children with Autism and complex learning needs.
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher and other support staff to deliver tailored learning activities.
- Promote a nurturing a positive classroom atmosphere where children feel safe, valued and supported.
- Assist with communication and interaction strategies, using tools such as PECS, visuals and Makaton (training can be provided).
- Support pupils with personal development and emotional regulation as part of the wider SEND provision.
- Must be able to work Monday – Friday full time school hours.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Has experience working with children with SEND, particularly Autism or communication and language difficulties.
- Has relevant L2/L3 or above qualification.
- Is patient, empathetic and dedicated to helping every child reach their potential.
- Enjoys working as part of a supportive and collaborative team.
- Has strong communication skills and a proactive attitude.
- Holds (or is willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS on the update service.
