We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join their passionate team. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the academic and social development of students with special educational needs. Working closely with experienced teaching staff, you will contribute to creating a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere where every child can thrive. As an SEN TA, will be required to work one-to-one or with small groups of students who have additional learning needs to help them access the curriculum, breaking down subjects and topics into simpler forms for the children to make continual progress and development. Collaborating with teachers to implement individualised education plans and adapt learning materials will be something that you be crucial within your role; working alongside your support network of teachers and other education professionals will ensure a smooth process through school for your students. On a day to day basis, you will assist with classroom management and behaviour support strategies to ensure the environment children are learning in is positive and inclusive for all; promoting social interaction will ensure that students are respectful of each other when working together. You will keep records of students progress, providing regular written and verbal feedback to teachers and parents/guardians. The school will support you within your role and time with them, offering relevant and regular training sessions/workshops to enhance your skills in supporting children with SEN.

The school we are working alongside are a small, local school based in BD21. They are a friendly, inclusive one form entry school with a Nursery and Resourced Provision to support students with SEN. With extensive outdoor learning areas, playgrounds, a cycle track and a variety of learning materials to support the education provided to students, you will have various resources in order to deliver high quality teaching. Offering a well established culture of coaching ensures that the team are continuously improving practice in order to challenge and support students to be the best versions of themselves. Currently, the school take great pride in being one of the four founder schools of the Nurture Academies Trust; working closely with a variety of other local schools has offered this school the opportunities to liaise with other professionals to excel.

  • Have experience previously supporting students with SEN
  • Be adaptable, resilient and positive in the face of adversity
  • Be a role model for inclusivity, equality and other positive attributes that the school aim for the students to leave with
  • Create a nurturing environment fulfilled with opportunities for students to develop to the best of their ability

The successful candidate must have:

  • Qualifications relating to the role, ideally Level 3 or above
  • Experience working with people with learning difficulties
  • An enhanced DBS that is registered to the update service
  • Two suitable references covering the past two years
  • Right to work in the U.K
