We are recruiting an experienced SEN TA looking for a new, flexible role to commence immediately on a full basis. We are looking for a candidate that is flexible to he needs of the school. The school we are working alongside is based in LS17.

The role we are hiring for is an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a local Primary School based in Leeds. The successful candidate will be a compassionate, resilient and positive individual who has the ability to form great working relationships with KS2 pupils who have additional needs. You will provide essential support to students with special educational needs, ensuring they have equal access to learning opportunities and thrive within the school environment.

Your roles and responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with special educational needs, both in mainstream classrooms and within dedicated SEN provisions
  • Assist students with academic tasks, helping to reinforce learning objectives and adapt materials to suit individual learning styles
  • Support students with personal care needs, including toileting, feeding, and mobility assistance where required
  • Collaborate closely with class teachers, SENCO and other professionals to implement individual education plans and support strategies effectively
  • Help to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, respected and supported
  • Encourage the social and emotional development of students, promoting positive behaviour and self-esteem
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to relevant stakeholders as needed
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of interventions and support programs aimed at meeting the specific needs of SEN students

It is important that you have experience with children who have special educational needs, either in an educational or care setting so that you can be effective from the off, forming positive relationships with the students .and teachers alike. The successful candidate will have a compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine interest in supporting the well-being and development of children. Having strong communication and interpersonal skills will allow you to build these relationships quickly; allowing you to understand the students specific needs and ensuring they can communicate with you in their own ways. Building relationships with parents and guardians will also enable you to provide a holistic approach to learning and allow you to identify specific needs easily. You will have flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students and respond effectively to changing circumstances.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Qualifications relating to the role, ideally Level 3 or above
  • Experience working with people with SEN
  • An enhanced DBS that is registered to the update service
  • Two suitable references covering the past two years
  • Right to work in the U.K
